How To Plan A Trip

9:00 AM

My girlfriends and I have decided to go on an all-girls vacation this June. It's quite exciting because it's my first time to go out of the country with just friends.  We at Not A Size Zero, wanted to share with you not only the trip we'll be having, but also help you plan and prepare for you own trip.
1.  Know where you want to go. - There are many places to choose from depending on your budget, how far you want to travel, and how long you plan to stay.

2.  Set a budget (or at least an idea). – Be mindful of where you are going to stay, transportation, food, activities, and pocket money.

3.  Know how many people are going. – Sometimes, the more people that are going, the more money you have for lodging and food.  However, more people also means less space and more mouths to feed.  You also have to consider everyone’s opinions and requests. But hey, the more, the merrier.

4.  Set a date. –Depending on the number of people that are going, you need to set a date according to everyone’s availability.  Knowing when your trip is will allow you to have a time frame to budget your expenses.  It will also give you time to save up extra money for preparing for your trip (passport, clothes, waxing, etc.)

5.  Save, Save, Save – It would be wise to have money set aside already, but it never hurts to have extra money for unexpected expenses.

6.  Looking – Look for the best deals online.  Expedia, Orbitz, Apple Vacations, Priceline, etc. are all good websites to look at when planning a bigger vacation.  However, some of them have a limit on the number of people you can book for.  They have many all-inclusive deals.  Make sure to check what is included in the packages you are interested in and read reviews on the resorts you are looking into.  Don’t be afraid to ask questions.  Call the customer service numbers when needed.

7.  Booking - Make sure you have the information of all the people who are included in the trip (First and last name as appears on passport, birthdays). Also, figure out how you are paying and how many credit cards are being used.  Keep in mind that some debit and credit cards have a limit on how much you can spend in a day.  You may have to split the payment among multiple cards.

8.  Plan out activities – Plan activities with the group.  You may need to book these in advance, so prepare a schedule of your trip and decide which days you would like to do certain activities.  You may also need to pay extra for these activities.  Make sure to read the information on the activities.  You can google activities near you.  You may find deals when you are booking your trip through a website such as Expedia, Orbitz, etc.

Don’t be late for your flight! Plan to check in at least an hour before so that you have enough time to go through security and to the gate. Have fun! Leave all your stress behind.  You worked hard for this vacation.  Enjoy it!
