Adventures: Taeyang in Chitown

12:30 PM

This has got to be one of the best things I have ever done in my life. My love for the Korean culture has been no secret. If you ask any of my friends my favorite food, place, dramas, music etc, you will get one answer. September 3, 2017, one of my all time favorite k-pop star, Taeyang was in town for his US tour. I've never seen or been to a live k-pop concert, so I didn't know what to expect.
I have been following the Kpop band Big Bang for 10 years nows and it just seemed fitting that I would see one of my favorites live. It was one of the best experiences ever. I cried, which really isn't saying much since I cry to almost everything, but it was such an amazing time. I wish I was able to listen to his newer CD more before the concert, but I enjoyed it either way.

His performance was top incredible, so much energy and he was really interactive. English was a bit awkward, but I love the effort. It would have been nice to see him in the send off, but it was tooe expensive and y'all know I ain't about that life. I'm still really happy I got to see him perform live.

What to expect when you go to a K-pop concert:
A lot of screaming! Fan girls and boys will be filling the place with enthusiastic chants for their favorite Kpop star.
Synchronized hand gestures. In coordination with the chanting, there are hand movements. Don't worry they're nothing too complicated. Just want the crowd and follow.
Expensive merch: Like in any concert, merch will be available and overpriced.
Expect to have a good time. Make sure you bring your karaoke skills and energy. It will come in handy.

If you asked my 10 years ago, if I could picture myself watching Taeyang live, I would tell you that I could, but only in my dreams. I'm so glad I was able to do this even once in my life at such a significant time in my life.

"Only you can make your dreams come true."
